Among the top values of Liberty Senior Living communities is the desire to assist resident members in achieving their optimal level of health. Wellness is more than an absence of disease; rather, it is an overall sense of well-being in many dimensions of one’s health including physical, nutritional, spiritual, social, and intellectual. With a focus on enriching these areas of our resident member’s dimensions of wellness, Liberty Senior Living and its communities embrace the INSPIRE wellness program.

Inclusive

At Liberty Senior Living, everyone has a place to belong. Our person-centered Life Enrichment programs celebrate the individuality, experiences and interests of each resident while creating opportunities for connection, participation and friendship. We offer a variety of activities and skill levels to help residents engage in ways that feel comfortable and meaningful to them, while welcoming and celebrating the diverse backgrounds, perspectives and experiences that make each member of our community unique.

Nutritional

Good nutrition nourishes the body, mind and soul. Our Dining Services, Life Enrichment and Wellness teams work together to support residents’ nutritional well-being while creating enjoyable and flexible dining experiences. From weekly specials and rotating seasonal menus to self-selected options, residents have opportunities to enjoy variety and choice at mealtime. Communities may also offer nutritional education and presentations to help residents explore the connection between healthy choices and overall wellness.

Spiritual

Spiritual wellness is personal, and we welcome residents of all faiths, beliefs, cultures and backgrounds. We encourage each resident to discover what brings them a sense of purpose, peace and positivity, whether through worship, reflection, time in nature, yoga, meditation, tai chi or simply connecting with others. Communities may offer dedicated spaces and programming for spiritual gatherings, providing opportunities to nurture the mind, find balance and explore what brings meaning to everyday life.

Physical

Staying active can help residents maintain strength, mobility, confidence and independence. Our wellness programming offers opportunities for movement at a variety of ability levels, with activities designed around individual goals and needs. From functional fitness and group exercise to specialized programs focused on areas such as cognitive wellness or Parkinson’s support, residents can find meaningful ways to stay active. Communities may also bring in specialized instructors for classes such as tai chi, Zumba and line dancing, adding even more ways to make movement enjoyable.

On-site personal training.

The Wellness Director can create an individualized exercise plan depending on Assessment/Reassessment results. In addition, the Wellness Director can provide an overview of all equipment in the Fitness Studio and record seat positions/guide resistance suggestions. On-site personal training is available for an additional charge.

Intellectual

We believe there is always something new to discover. Our intellectual programming encourages residents to challenge their minds, learn new skills, revisit familiar interests and share their knowledge with others. Opportunities may include educational programs, creative pursuits, guest speakers, partnerships with local colleges and universities, and even college-level courses or internships. By continuing to learn and exchange ideas, residents can stay curious, connected and engaged at every stage of life.

Recreational

Life should be fun! Our recreational programming gives residents opportunities to enjoy favorite hobbies, discover new interests, explore the local community and simply spend time with friends. Life Enrichment assessments help our teams understand what residents enjoy so activities can be personalized to their interests, abilities and needs. From clubs and crafts to outings and social gatherings, our recreation therapy-based approach focuses on creativity, discovery, friendship and, most importantly, having fun.

Engaging

Being engaged means more than simply being present—it means being an active part of community life. We encourage residents to discover new interests, pursue passions, share their talents and even help shape and lead programs. Through person-centered programming, volunteer opportunities, partnerships with local organizations and experiences both on and off campus, residents have opportunities to stay connected and contribute to the world around them. We believe every resident has something meaningful to offer, and we are here to help them continue discovering what’s possible.

Be inspired. Join INSPIRE to achieve your personal best!

The partnership between Liberty Senior Living and the NASM/AFAA organization is an indicator of Liberty being viewed as a leader in the senior fitness industry. This partnership provides more opportunities for current staff to obtain higher quality training as well as retention in employees through continuing education opportunities including conferences. In turn, this provides our communities’ residents with more extensive programming possibilities. The NASM Senior Fitness Specialization is provided to all INSPIRE interns at our various communities to establish continuity and a basic understanding of working with the older adult population within the fitness realm. This partnership will draw more determined interns with the intent on carrying out a career in the fitness world.
